Tweeting a school shooting.

Update: Here is more on the male teacher who shot two administrators at Inskip Elementary.

Update II: Mark Foster, the suspect in the school shooting had also allegedly threatened to kill a previous boss. His brother also took out an order of protection against him but nothing was done. My question is, why does no one ever put two and two together in these cases? It seems that no one ever communicates when someone is violent or potentially violent. My guess is the reason is fear, probably of a lawsuit.

I am disgusted at this kind of violence, but I'll bet there is a very interesting story that is not being told by the media. Middle-aged, male, 4th grade teacher shoots two women (principal and asst principal)...

Stinks like fish, to me.

Kevin M,

I'm sure there is some back story we may or may not hear about.

Always an embarrassment...

Never a mystery.

Helen: Update should read: Here is more on the teacher who shot two administrators..."

Confusing an administrator with a teacher is like confusing a waiter with the chef.

NB: So the guy was not going to be invited back the next year. Hmmmm..... That backstory is starting to take a familiar shape.

Kevin,

Thanks, I corrected it.

I just heard the press conference on the suspect. Apparently, he had threatened to kill another boss or co-worker at Oak Ridge in the 1990's but this information was not given to the school, for some reason. His brother had also taken out a protective order against him but nothing came of it.

Some more on Foster - complaints about his conduct in the classroom:

http://www.wbir.com/news/local/story.aspx?storyid=112988&catid=2

"A complaint dated December 2, 2009, indicates a parent called, complaining Foster had grabbed his son's shoulder and tugged and pushed on him, on several occasions during dismissal. The boy confirmed that account when interviewed and said he didn't want Foster touching him."

It also seems that when he applied for a position at the school he didn't provide accurate past employment history, and though he underwent a criminal background check, nothing came up.

Someone did email the superintendent and administrators a couple of months back, warning them that he was "ticking time bomb".

Is the story turning out to be more or less interesting than you'd foreseen? (The previous boss he threatened to kill, by the way, was male):

"Wednesday, Oak Ridge Tool Engineering CEO Terry Mullins said Foster had threatened his life back in 1995, after he was dismissed. Mullins said Foster worked for his company from 1993 to 1995, until a manager dismissed him for absenteeism."
